Large stoneware platter made by Warren Mackenzie. Mackenzie is former professor at the U of MN who maintained a studio in Stillwater, MN for over fifty years. Warren died in 2018 at the age of 94. His life and work are much admired and celebrated worldwide. This generous platter is one of several he made in the 1980’s and 90’s.  In the glazing process, the dark rich Mashiko Stone glaze was poured over a matt ocher glaze rich in limestone. The contrast in application, color and texture is typical of Mackenzie’s interest.  This piece is not stamped, but is clearly a remarkable work by him. I am listing this on behalf of a dear friend.
